I have nothing to say but a lot to show.
- Madame Grès
Madame Grès was no couturière, she was an artist. Her creations were not dresses, rather a consistant work relfecting her personal and avant-garde artistic vision of fashion. In her vision, beautiful, patiently pleated fabrics are structured in a perfect "tombé". In her vision, the ideal dress has no seams. Women’s bodies are also part of Grès‘ work: they sublimate the dresses while the dresses reveal and sublimate the bodies‘ shapes. To celebrate beauty according to Grès‘ high standards, a Pièce Unique was definitely needed.
